UM-7 magnetic calibration for land vehicles

How to do magnetic calibration of UM-7 once installed on land vehicle. Is rotating in only one (around yaw) axis enough to collect points for calibration?

No, calibration requires that rotation is performed about all three axes during calibration.

Thanks Caleb.But we need to rotate the full platform where module is installed. In our case platform will be some vehicle (suppose car) , which can not be rotated in all three directions. How to calibrate the system then.

Hi Ranu,

The UM7 doesn’t support 2D calibration at this time. If you absolutely need it, then I’d recommend that you use the magnetometer output and use it to compute heading directly. Any calibration will have to be performed on your end.
